Big Wheel Tyre & Auto began it's life as Blacktown Retreads factory which was established in 1969 by the Gogby family. The Gogby family lived onsite and serviced the local Girraween area mainly dealing with local automotive businesses.
As business grew, the Gogby family decided they needed to expand their sales base and so they built a shop-front onto the front of the factory and opened it's doors to the local public.
Around 1980 the Blacktown Retreads factory was moved to the rear of the site and the front of the site was sold to Max Burghman & Brian Akers, where they started Big Wheel Tyre & Auto Service.
Big Wheel Tyre & Auto Service was started as a truck wheel & tyre service.
In 1983, Phil Gilham started as a mechanic for Big Wheel Tyre & Auto where he worked closely alongside Brian Akers until in 1993 when he took over the business.
At the same time, Blacktown Retreads closed for business and Big Wheel Tyre & Auto took over offering retread services to the local area.
Under the guidance of Phil Gilham, Big Wheel Tyre & Auto have expanded their products and services range and as such their customer base grew.
In 1998 Big Wheel starting sponsoring Tony Abson's Speedcar at Parramatta City Raceway. The qualified mechanics of Big Wheel Tyre & Auto keep his speedcar in top condition.
